Computers

Are computers taking over?

Computers will only continue to become more affordable and more abundant in households in the future!

A Timeline of Computer Advancements

-Macintosh's 1984 computer commercial. Does buying a mac computer really help the owner's individuality like the commercial intends? No. The introduction of the personal computer has made people less individual and more vulnerable to identity fraud and isolation from the real world. It is another way for Big Brother to watch you!

-Macintosh introduction, 1984.

-Macbook Air commercial, 2008.

Computers have been rapidly filling the homes of thousands since the 1980's.

On average, an American teenager spends 4 hours 48 minutes per day on a computer.

There are several cons of computer overuse. Increased time on a computer can result in eyestrain, carpal tunnel syndrome, neck and back pain, conjunctivitis (bloodshot eyes), and dermatitis. In Taiwan, the number of first-graders with myopia has increased from 12.1 percent to 20.4 percent since 1995. Computers also distract teens from doing homework with websites such as Facebook and Myspace. If Myspace were a country, it would be the 11th largest in the world.

Do not let the computer ruin your life:

-Limit the time you use the computer to an hour a day

-Plan days with your family where the computer is off limits

-Eat dinner with your family every night

All we can do is wait and see what the future brings.

-Kids are dependent on computers to learn and communicate
